Διονυσίου Σολωμού - Άπαντα Τα Ευρισκόμενα

Dionysios Solomos wrote the words that would become the Greek national anthem, and this definitive collection gathers every surviving poem from the man who gave modern Greece its literary voice. Born on the Ionian island of Zante to a family that split their world between Greek and Italian culture, Solomos composed in the years immediately following the Greek War of Independence, channeling the revolutionary fervor of 1821 into verses that still burn with urgency two centuries later. His 'Hymn to Liberty' remains one of the most powerful poems of national awakening ever written, its opening lines familiar to every Greek schoolchild. This scholarly edition presents his complete existing works, including the famous 'Prosilogue' by Solomos' contemporary Polylas, accompanied by comprehensive critical apparatus, editorial notes, and a systematic introduction to the poet's life and oeuvre. The texts have been carefully collated against manuscripts and previous editions, rendered here in monotonic Greek. For anyone seeking to understand how a nation found its voice in the aftermath of revolution, these pages hold the original syllables of Greek modernity.
