"In our global era, conceptions and experiences of identity, nationality, personhood, and family are in flux, yet many of the ways that lives are lived, and the stereotypes and cultural imperialism that provide a framework for postmodern life, presume fixed characteristics that allow for an easy response to difficult questions.
