"Over the course of a more than 40-year career in sports administration, Kim Un-yongserved as KSOC chairman and IOC Executive Board member and vice president. One of the greats of the South Korean sports world, he made major contributions to bringing numerous major international competitions and conferences to South Korea, including the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, the 2002 South Korea-Japan World Cup, and several IOC Sessions.
