Getting it wrong

"The only in-print American paperback edition of 'The great Gatsby'--reputedly the most widely taught American novel--has a flawed text. The current 2004 trade paperback edition bearing the Scribner imprint of Simon & Schuster was presumably set from the text of the 1925 Charles Scribner's Sons first printing, but it incorporates 39 substantive emendations from the Cambridge University Press (CUP) critical edition.
