Der Meister von Messkirch1997

Presents a catalogue raisonné of the paintings and drawings of the Master of Messkirch (1488-1565), identified by the author as Joseph of Balingen. Preceeded by an introductory section dealing with the Master's life and work, the catalogue is divided into three sections: religious paintings (no. 1-39), portraits (no. 40-41), and drawings (no. 42-43). Supplementing this is a catalogue of 9 works belonging to the circle or followers of the Master. A bibliography and list of catalogs is appended. The work has numerous illustrations, of which 107 are in color and 64 in black and white.
