About this book

"Charles McDonald was born on the Flathead Indian Reservation in Montana in 1897 and died on the reservation in 1995. He worked as a cowboy, packer, tribal councilman, and tribal employee for many years. His life story and observations of tribal affairs and history cover the tumultuous twentieth century when the tribes had allotment imposed on them and the theft of tribal lands and resources. Charles McDonald experienced many of these changes and observed others. He and other tribal members coped and rebuilt the tribal organization after the allotment and land sales"--Provided by publisher.
