Joachim Ringleben

About this book

Joachim Ringleben closely analyzes the writings of Karl Barth and Paul Tillich on the Word of God. He comes to the conclusion that both theologians miss the critically important concept of the "Word of God" in its linguistic construction. For both Barth and Tillich, for different reasons, God cannot be "in the Word." Ringleben shows that the correspondences in both cases threaten to reduce the Word of God to its specific meaning as merely a word.
