The extraordinarily harsh European winters of the 1870s and 1890s are uniquely reflected in the impressionistic landscape painting of that time. Over 60 winter landscapes by renowned artists depict the many facets of this season, from sparse snow flurry to springlike thaw. The exhibition at the Arp Museum in Rolandseck railway station and the sumptuous accompanying catalogue offer Germany's first look at this phenomenon.
