In the short, hot summer of 1967, the Arab-Israeli conflict erupted with an abrupt and astonishing violence that was almost extinguished before the sound of the explosive waves could be heard. It took only six days to re-map the Middle East, as Israel's forces quadrupled the size of their country in what was probably the most sensationally fast and comprehensive campaign ever known.
