Self-Timer Stories

"The practice of self-timed photography is the starting point for these 'Self-Timer Stories'. They revolve around the 'noise of time', as Roland Barthes describes the redeeming clicks of cameras, those liminal moments that have been used since the beginning stages of photogbraphy as a mode of protest. An extension of the traveling exhibition in book-form, 'Self-Timer Stories' demonstrates how discourses on identity and photography which do not necessarily focus on the subjects, but rather the relationship between image and gaze, can be used as an emanicipatory artistic tool to intervene in visual politics."
