*A Vision of Learning* charts the 125-year history of one of the UK's most distinctive universities. Opened in Liverpool in 1885 as the first non-denominational teacher training college for women, Edge Hill has a long tradition of progressive higher education. From its origins as a specialist institution with 41 trainee teachers, Edge Hill has grown and evolved to become a well-respected, strong and vibrant university with over 24,000 students on a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. This new, lavishly illustrated publication, produced as part of Edge Hill University's anniversary celebrations, provides an unprecedented insight into each era of Edge Hill's history - from the early years in Liverpool through the move to Ormskirk and the recent decades of expansion and diversification. As well as being the story of one institution realising its vision in challenging times, it is a tribute to the thousands of alumni, staff and students who make up the unique Edge Hill University community.
