Le Corbusier en La Plata

Le Corbusier en La Plata2018

Daniel O. Casoy

About this book

First edition of an unpublished interview in Spanish originally written for the magazine Arquitecturas Bis of Barcelona, which published in 1983 only a brief extract of this interview. The complete interview, which is published for the first time in this book, reveals the history of the the Curutchet House, designed in 1948 by Le Corbusier and sent by mail to his client, who took advantage of a trip from his sister to Paris to commission the project. Why the doctor - with functionalist ideas applied to the design of surgical instruments - chose the great Swiss-French architect and what happened next? Architect and journalist, Daniel O. Casoy, displayed his curiosity and his questions in this historic interview (1980) reissued today in full version, where Dr. Pedro Domingo Curutchet, a surgeon, tells his story. A collection of photos of that interview and the noted Casa Curutchet are published along with photos from 2006 and the original 1949 plans. The Curutchet House (La Plata, Argentina) was inscribed in 2016 as site on UNESCO's World Heritage List.
