Natalie Whittaker is miserable at home after her vindictive half-brother inherits the estate where she has grown up. On a chance encounter, she is asked by Malcolm Chase if she will be be a governess for his lively young daughter. But once he realizes that Natalie is a young gentlewoman, he changes this offer of employment to become instead a marriage offer.
