Excellent study of the 1937 massacre ordered by the Dictator Rafael L. Trujillo against Haitians living in the Dominican Republic's northwestern frontier and the subsequent Haitian-Dominican international relations. Suzy Castor (1936) is one of the most important contemporary Haitian historians. She is also and educator and human rights activist. She has published many studies including Les origins de la structure agraire d'Haiti (1998), L'occupation americaine d'Haiti (1988), Migrations et relationsinternationales: le cas haitiano-dominicain (1988), among many others.
