Avenging the owl

Uprooted to Oregon where he befriends a boy with Down Syndrome, Solo Hahn--named in honor of the Star Wars action hero--must perform eight months of community service at the local raptor center and uses his screenwriting passion to convey his feelings about his father's attempted suicide.
