Sakrament und Wort im Grund und Gegenstand des Glaubens
Sakrament und Wort im Grund und Gegenstand des Glaubens
About this book
This volume presents the second part of the results of the interdenominational research group which includes members of the Pontifical Lateran University in Rome and the Protestant Faculties in Tübingen and Heidelberg. After studying the "Fundament and Subject of Faith," the results of which were published in 2008 in the first volume, the group finished its study of "Sacrament and Word." The subject is dealt with strictly as a theme of fundamental theology and it is shown that both the Roman Catholic and the Protestant Lutheran traditions understand sacrament and word as an implication of the process of revelation, which is in fact the fundament and subject of faith. This means that sacrament and word are essentially interconnected in both traditions. Although the history of reflection and the terminology are different in both traditions, the reality referred to in both doctrines is seen as identical on both sides. The assumption of radical differences or contradictions is unfounded.
