Roy Lichtenstein
About this book
"In December 1983, Roy Lichtenstein created Greene Street Mural, an unprecedented site-specific, temporary wall painting in Leo Castelli Gallery at 142 Greene Street in New York. A companion exhibition of paintings and sculptures was held in Leo Castelli Gallery at 420 West Broadway. In September 2015, in collaboration with the Roy Lichtenstein Foundation, a full-scale painting replica of the original mural was produced, spanning the length of Gagosian Gallery, 555 West 24th Street. Alongside the mural were paintings and sculptures that are referenced within the composition of the retrospective mural. Selected works contemporaneous to the period--whch were included in the 1983 Leo Castelli Gallery show at 420 West Broadway--were also part of this exhibition."--Page 5.
