Operation Torch

Duncan Harding

About this book

In the summer of 1942, seven months after the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbour, with the three Axis powers, Japan, Germany and Italy, at war with the USA, what does President Roosevelt decide to do? He decides to invade French North Africa, of course, sending 150,000 soldiers in a couple of hundred ships 5,000 miles to spearhead Ooperation Torch, a name designed to inspire the French to rise up and fight against their oppressors. But he hasn't reckoned with the French North Africans, who are living the good life away from the war. And he didn't expect those he was 'liberating' to rise up against his forces.
