Metamorphosen des EchosMetamorphosen des Echos

Metamorphosen des Echos

Sebastian Schulze

About this book

This study traces the mythological figure of Echo, along with the concept of the echo, in texts from the Baroque, Romantic, and present eras, using approaches both from literary theory and from the philosophy of perception. While the paradigm of perception has often been based on visual reflection, this study explores the possibilities of a concept of subjectivity that is based on speech and hearing. The analysis reveals perceptible connections between seemingly disparate texts and genres which deal with the spoken and heard word.
