One of the greatest fears to humans may be that of fire. There is little that can be done, but to take care of those dear to you, to watch and to run. The Brown County Historical Society has combined three writings, which give additional insight on the conditions leading to the fires of 1871. The authors bring together a better understanding of how fire influences culture, economic change, and ecological disaster.
