Utracone skarby dawnych wrocławskich muzeów

Utracone skarby dawnych wrocławskich muzeów

Robert Heś

About this book

The catalogue contains the outcome of the long-term extensive provenance research regarding the loss of the Wroclaw art collections during the Second World War and its immediate aftermath. 0The publication aims to recall the historical treasure of art and artistic crafts accumulated in the public collections of pre-war Wroclaw, which today are sadly missing from view. The major part of those artefacts is still considered lost and only few of them can be found in museum in Poland or abroad, and in private collections. Problems connected with securing works of art during the war and, sometimes dramatic, circumstances of their loss, as well as attempts to recover, which are still lasting until today, are also presented.0The selection of the lost artefacts presented in this book was made from the iconographic records in the Documents Collection of the National Museum in Wroclaw, most of which have not been previously published. This priceless documentary material is in itself a museum item. 0000.
