Annual survey of governments, 1979

These data were collected in 1979 from all local governments included in the 1977 Census of Governments. A sample was drawn of approximately 20,000 local units including all county governments in the 75 largest SMSAs, other governments in counties with over 50,000 population, all municipalities with 25,000 or more inhabitants, and all school districts with over 6,000 pupils. Information is included on full- and part-time employment, full-time equivalent employment, and payroll statistics by type of government, and by function. The data collection also includes statistics on labor-management relations, number of organized employees, number of bargaining units, number of contractual agreements, and number of employees covered by contractual agreements.
