About this book

In 2019, Michaela Meise was awarded the City of Nordhorn Art Prize. This publication recounts her project for the Städtische Galerie Nordhorn, which unites two very different aspects of her work: music and works on paper. In the wake of the racist attack in Hanau in February 2020, the artist, who was born and raised there, dedicated her version of the Turkish song ?Cemalim? to the memory of the nine murder victims. 0At about the same time, the COVID-19 pandemic was spreading around the world, bringing entire societies into a state of oppressive isolation and costing the lives of millions.0Meise responded to both upheavals in our collective and personal experience with a firm musical message as well as an intimate selection of watercolors and collages from the last two decades. 00Exhibition: Städtische Galerie Nordhorn, Germany (09.03 - 02.05. 2021).
