The Hired Hero

Lady Caroline is tasked to deliver an important message to London by her father, a master of espionage, but she is immediately beset with trouble on the way. Her coachman is killed and she is left for dead only to be rescued by the new Earl of Davenport, who has inherited a bankrupt estate from his dissolute brother. Caroline offers a handsome reward to Lord Julian if he helps her, but even as they try to keep their relationship businesslike, a mutual attraction develops.
