All dialogue in Down in the Hole are direct quotations from HBO's The Wire. All other adjunct texts have been manufactured, except for the correspondence between Charlotte Brontë and William Smith Williams (Juliet Barker, The Brontes: a life in letters. New York:Overlook Press, 2002.), and the quote from Brontë's Shirley"--Colophon.
