"Down in the hole: The unWired world of H.B. Ogden is a parody of HBO's The Wire, created by David Simon, which aired from June 2, 2002 to March 9, 2008. All dialogue in Down in the Hole are direct quotations from HBO's The Wire. All other adjunct texts have been manufactured, except for the correspondence between Charlotte Brontë and William Smith Williams (Juliet Barker, The Brontes: a life in letters. New York:Overlook Press, 2002.), and the quote from Brontë's Shirley"--Colophon.
