Offers to treat biological threats

The Bureau of Consumer Protection (BCP) of the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) offers the October 2001 consumer alert entitled "Offers to Treat Biological Threats: What You Need to Know." The text is available in PDF format. The FTC, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) provide advice about offers for treatments to combat the effects of biological weapons, such as anthrax. They suggest talking with health care professionals and not buying prescription drugs from unknown sources.
