An unpublished fragment of the Fourth gospel in the John Rylands library1935

Resting his claim upon paleographical considerations, C.H. Roberts dates this fragment to the first half of the 2nd century. If correct, it is "the earliest known of any part of the New Testament and probably the earliest witness to the existence of the Gospel of St. John."--Introd. p. 11-12.
