Mistress or Marriage?

Under duress, Viscount Halford decides to find a wife. After settling on Lady Lucinda, a haughty society beauty, he returns to his country estate after many years away. Unexpectedly he meets one of his tenants, the beguiling Sophie Marsden who is raising her orphaned nephew there. Halford finds himself drawn to her despite his stated plans to marry elsewhere. His friends and relatives meanwhile try to impede his plans to propose to Lady Lucinda, while he slowly realizes that Sophie is the worthier bride.
