XVI). It incorporates a polemic against the hereditary monarchy of France and is presumably a forgery, as Claude Fauchet pointed out fifteen years later (see Bib# 4102785/Fr# 247 in this collection). The ‘ancient manuscript of undetermined authorship’ that Hotman professed to have been sent has never since surfaced. H. M.
