Robert Stackhouse
About this book
"Robert Stackhouse is a sculptor, graphic artist, and printmaker. Stackhouse is interested in the theme of transition and ship motifs and bridges are important in his work, suggesting journeys and transitions from one place to another." -- Spaight Wood Gallerie.
"Robert Stackhouse taught at the Corcoran School of Art in Washington, DC for ten years before moving to New York City and finally settling in Florida. This sculpture was commissioned by the Museum in 1991 as part of an exhibition highlighting his work at mid-career. In Delaware Passage, he uses metal strips in an A-frame to arouse an instinctual familiarity akin to the overturned hull of a ship. Filtered, fractured light created by the latticework allows the viewer to experience the sculpture as more than a tangible object; it becomes a place of transformation and passage." -- Delaware Art Museum.
