Rural industrialization in Israel

Raphael Bar-El

About this book

Rural industries in Israel have a relatively short history, but the experience gained in this field is considerable. This book reviews the industrial experience of the kibbutz, the moshav, the nonagricultural village, and the Arab village. The introductory chapter by Bar-El is aimed at a summary of the various experiences in Israel. The following chapters review respectively the general background and objectives of industrialization, its setting, the experience gained and its evaluation, and the policy implications in each form of rural settlement. The chapter on industrialization of the kibbutz (by Don and Leviatan) discusses the oldest and most successful rural industry in Israel to date. -- From http://www.jstor.org (Oct. 19, 2012).
