Social capital, context, and consensus-building and cooperation in community-based forest management

The book examines the development of mutual trust among local community advisory committee stakeholders and local forest agency managers with respect to building consensus on the management of local public forests for sustainable multiple use. The book uniquely goes beyond the typical factors analysed in stakeholder deliberation (e.g. respect, extent of information sharing, shared learning) to examine what and how specific contextual factors such as prior relationships, government policy including type of local social capital influence the development of mutual trust.
