About this book
This book provides an overview of the concept of the French thinker Henri Bergson (1859-1941), a classic of twentieth-century Western philosophy, winner of the Nobel Prize in Literature (1927). The evolution of Bergson's views is studied in detail, from philosophical psychology, developed in early works, to the ethical and religious concept outlined in The Two Sources of Morality and Religion (1932); some aspects of the reception of Bergson's teachings in Russia in the late 19th and first two decades of the 20th centuries are considered. The book, which contains elements of the genre of philosophical biography, uses new factual material. The Appendix contains a translation of two Bergson works, which are being published in Russian for the first time.
