The golden man

In response to a telegram Sandy James is on the way, a day early, to attend her room-mate's wedding. Strangely, and contrary to her instructions, the train goes through her station, and Sandy, getting off at the next stop, wonders whether she will be met. She is—by a man who introduces himself as her room-mate's brother and escorts her to a waiting car. Then she realises that she has walked into a trap which clicks smoothly behind her. Where are these men taking her? And why? Sandy's expectations of an enjoyable weekend are completely eclipsed by terror—terror that is her constant companion in a lonely old house ... that drives her on a frantic rush for freedom... that pulsates at the mention of a name on the telephone.
