Het Rubenshuis

The book focuses mainly on three topics. First there is the creation and life of the association The Friends of the Rubens House, whose history and current policies are carefully drawn. The book outlines the history of The Friends of the Rubens House, beginning in 1947, the year of its inception until today, which the author has interviewed the current president on challenges for the future. Furthermore, the author elaborates on various pieces in the collection (furniture, paintings, sculptures) that over the years have been purchased or the Rubens House on loan. Several individual pieces are discussed in detail. Finally, the author also acknowledges the biography of the Rubens House itself, the construction and the gradual restoration. Summary: Dit boek schetst voor het eerst de geschiedenis van De Vrienden van het Rubenshuis. Deze bijzondere vereniging streeft er al jaren naar de collectie van het museum te verrijken en de faam van Rubens te vergroten. Daarnaast wil het boek ook de prachtige collectie van het Rubenshuis in de kijken zetten. Van olieverfschetsen van Rubens tot schilderijen van zijn leerlingen, van een zeldzaam zelfportret tot handgeschreven brieven, het zijn maar enkele voorbeelden van de unieke stukken die in de actuele collectie te bewonderen zijn.
