Bridget's fairies

Bridget, the young daughter of English missionaries, receives letters from her mother who is away in the mission field. Each letter (chapter) contains a lesson featuring a "fairy mentor" -- Madame Mathematics, the Lady Geography, the Old Soldier Courage, etc. These tales-within-a-tale serve as bedtime stories for Bridget, while instilling positive values and a love of learning.
