Franklin Benjamin Sanborn was born in 1821 at Hampton Falls, New Hampshire, the fifth of seven children of Aaron and Lydia Leavitt Sanborn. He was active in the anti-slavery movement and wrote of that movement, John Brown and other abolistionists, and politics in general in the United States, 1854-1861.
