This book approaches 'art history in a global context' from various perspectives, perceiving it as a broad container that encompasses the most disparate times and objects under investigation. Going beyond antagonisms - like high and low or center and periphery - the phenomena of translation, appropriation and site-specificity are shifted into focus.
