"Bob Brooks enters Madison High as a new teacher with ulterior motives. It's not that he is a bad guy, but his desire to make it as a full time gamer in his eyes is just several classes away. Status the Game is the hottest new MMORPG (Massively Multi-player Online Role Playing Game) to hit the market. The game is just completeing its beta test and has already hooked people and the media by offering players the chance to reach fame and fortune. Those who achieve the most status points can and are approached by legitimate businesses who offer advertising contracts which means free merchandise and money. It's not that easy, though, as rumors and actions outside of the game can reduce players' points as well as increase them. Anything can affect your points: profession, team captains vs. regular players, head cheerleaders vs. regular cheerleaders, geeks with super intelligence vs geeks with intelligence and well just about anything that raises your status in real life can increase your points in the game, but it can all go away with a simple rumor.
