Ireland Before the Normans (Gill History of Ireland Vol. 2)

This book describes the structure of Irish society before the Norman invasion and goes on to deal with the political and military history of the Norse wars, the struggles of the kings with opposition, the Irish institutions from 850 to 1150 and ecclesiastical reform in the period. This is the second volume in the comprehensive 11 volume "Gill History of Ireland," which covers Irish history from the fifth century to the 1960s.
