Raving Mad

William M. Gaines

About this book

Another back articles collection in paperback from the MAD editors, this one includes the article that decoded the annoying abbreviations people used to use in newspaper "want ads" in order to cram more info into the three lines allowed for the cheap price. The mass of consonants in the Automotive section that looked like "hard top sedan" actually meant "here's trouble for some dunce". What appeared to stand for "two tone red & chrome" translated to "two tons of rusted & corroded metal". You get the idea.
