Ethel Lilian Voynich was an Irish compositor and writer. Her novel "The Gadfly" was published in the USA in 1897. The Gadfly is a romantic novel which describes an activity of the underground revolutionary organization which called "Young Italy" in the first half of 20th century. The Christianity is sharply criticising in this book. Artur Berton was a student who participated in the national liberation movement "Young Italy". In the destiny of young man were many unusual events like secret of his birth, betrayal of the nearest people, falsificated suicide, unrequited love that disturbed all his life. The main hero of this story became an idol for many generations.
