Brief treatise on early typographic devices used to identify printers in 16th and 17th centuries. First half of book is essay on history of such devices in Europe and their presence in New Spain (especially Puebla). Second part presents dozen or so notable examples, in fullpage reproduction accompanied by explanation and transcription on facing page. High quality reproductions on heavy paper.
