Voices of the tempest
Voices of the tempest
About this book
Adriana Groisman has worked for ten years on this project on the Falklands War. After compiling images with nearly 300 hours of testimonies, she conceived this book that brings together the voices of Argentine and British veterans with those of the residents of the Malvinas Islands. In this way, the photographic story that it offers derives from lived experiences and supplements the official narrative of both nations - which is today the dominant information - with a focus on personal points of view. The book is a different look on the Malvinas, the chilling photographs and testimonies convey the sensitivity, respect and intimacy that deserves the theme. Adriana Groisman was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and studied photography at the International Center of Photography in New York (1984-85). Upon her return to Argentina in 1985 she began working as a photojournalist for Editorial Perfil, a magazine conglomerate. In 1987 she started to work for Editorial Atlantida, a multi-media organization. In 1993 she became a photo correspondent for Clarin, one of the world's largest Spanish-speaking newspapers. She has been affiliated with the international picture agency Contact Press Images since 1989. Groisman's work has appeared in major publications in the USA and abroad; these include The Smithsonian Magazine, The Los Angeles Times Magazine, Newsweek, The Atlantic, Black and White Magazine, Aperture, Sette-Corriere della Sera in Italy and French GEO. Her work is part of the permanent collection at the Museum of Fine Arts of Houston.
