While the seasons of the Christian year may seem arcane to many, Don Collett uses this method of structuring the year as a way to draw forth insights into what he calls the "universal spirit," spiritual truths which may be applied in the course of a person's everyday life. The insights of Northrop Frye (1912-1991), one of Canada's top literary scholars and critics, provide the interpretative lens through which the six seasons are presented.
