Once upon a time in a dead world, there lived a girl who had the chance to become a princess. Instead, she robbed prince charming at gunpoint. Forced to flee, she walked the rotting metropolis alone. Her name was Jacqueline, though the cannibals of the under levels called her Jacq the Butcher. Jacq always thought the best treasures lay far below her feet, down in the darkness that had swallowed her father, but then she found Shaft 07 of the Space Elevator. Miles above the earth, above the very sky, she met the Ogre, a remnant from a world long dead. Jacq wanted to know how the world ended, and the Ogre agreed to tell her an amazing tale filled with murderers, terrorists, bounty hunters and cyborgs. In exchange, he wanted to hear about her journey. He wanted to hear her tales of slave traders, thieves and cannnibals. A tale for a tale: it was a better deal than any Jacq had been offered down on the surface. Happily Ever After doesn't come easy after the end of the world.
