The villa at Ossaia and the territory of Cortona in the Roman period
The villa at Ossaia and the territory of Cortona in the Roman period2006
About this book
"The Ossaia site, originally an Etruscan rural sanctuary, developed into a Roman villa in the early 1st century B.C. and later in that same century became the property of the Imperial family. Through another 6 centuries, the site continued to reflect the social and economic changes that occurred in the territory and town of ancient Cortona. Many of the artefacts and mosaics from the site are on display in the recently opened Museum of the Accademia Etrusca and of the City of Cortona. This volume provides a synthetic discussion, with cross-reference to the museum displays, of the excavations, the architecture, interior decoration and small finds from the villa at Ossaia within their historical and territorial context."--Back cover.
