Footprints on the sand

The Mulgraves are a rootless, bohemian family who travel continental Europe, staying in palazzos which are in varying states of disrepair, in Spanish villas and in French vineyards. Ralph Mulgrave's waning enthusiasms usually require a change of scenery and forever keep the family on the move. Yet, all that stops in 1940, when Germany invades France and the Mulgraves are forced to flee to England.
