About this book
Lewis and Clark 200.gov commemorates the Lewis and Clark Expedition, providing information both about the Expedition itself and about events planned to celebrate the bicentennial of Lewis and Clark's Corp of Discovery. The site includes a map of the explorers' trail, the text of Thomas Jefferson's charge to the leaders of the expedition, biographical information about the members of the Corp of Discovery, information about Native American tribes encountered during the journey, and links to the text of the journals of Lewis and Clark and to images of the maps prepared and received by the explorers during their journey. The "Educational Resources" portion of the site also offers teaching materials including a timeline of events, online activities, and lesson plans designed for students in grades 3 through 12. A calendar of commemorative events, press releases, and links to web sites offering additional information about the Lewis and Clark Expedition are also provided.
