It is increasingly evident that the consistent use of standardized geographical names is an essential element of effective communication worldwide. Unambiguous nationally-endorsed names support socio-economic development, sustainable environmental management and spatial data infrastructure. This multilingual dictionary presents definitions for a common global understanding of some 375 technical terms pertaining to geographical names: their language, standardization, computer storage and cartographic use.
